I’ve been baking for nearly 30 years. For 6 years I made beautiful and delicious Custom Cakes and Cookies for others. And as much as I love making custom – designer pieces, I always come back to the basics.
I honestly believe that EVERYONE should know how to bake a beautiful cake for their loved one. Because baking is love. Baking brings out the best in us. It’s something that takes a little bit of time and a lot of thought, but baking is magic. And decorating is therapeutic!
Seven years ago I started teaching cake and cookie decorating classes out of my home and I fell in love with teaching. There’s just something about watching frustration and fear turn into confidence and pride. It helped me decide I wanted everyone to feel the joy I feel when I bake, and that desire landed me here… teaching you all I know as quickly as I can learn it!
I am a firm believer in what I like to call “bake away the hate”. When I was a young, working mom and struggling to get along with certain difficult coworkers, I would spend my evenings baking cookies that I later delivered to people I didn’t see eye to eye with. In serving them, it softened my contentious spirit! I think that is where I learned to bake as therapy.
I have 4 beautiful daughters who keep me on my toes and teach me patience like it’s going out of style. They are my biggest fans, cheering me on and constantly forgiving me when I make NUMEROUS parenting mistakes.
And lastly… I LOVE to bake! There’s just not much that you can’t say with a chewy delightful cookie or a slice of delicious cake!
